Step 1: Facilitating Connection

Initiative Overview

Outcome

Facilitating connection and transparency is critical to making a company a great place to work. The internal directory will be an invaluable tool in your employees' day to day work and will also play a crucial role in employee development.

Description

Now that you have implemented Bridge, your organizational chart is available as an internal directory. Employees need to fill out their profiles!

To complete the internal directory, you need to help employees with three tasks:

  • Log in to Bridge
  • Complete employee profiles
  • Review employee data and make any corrections

Once people see their beautiful empty profile page in the organizational chart, they will probably be motivated to fill things out on their own—all they need is to be pointed in the right direction.

What To Watch For

Data Integrity Issues

Maybe your HR data is as precise as a Ginsu Knife, but for us mere mortals... Exposing all of your HRIS data in a beautiful and useful way in Bridge is probably going to expose a bunch of errors that have been there all along but went unnoticed.

Expect to spend a decent amount of time fielding questions from employees and cleaning things up in the weeks following your directory rollout—“Hey I don’t report to that person anymore”, “my title is wrong”, and so forth.

Profile Pictures

It's important for employees to feel ownership over their profiles, but actual pictures of employees are nice to have so it's easier for people to get to know each other.

Encourage employees to upload real profile pictures as opposed to pictures of their favorite bird/Pokemon/beverage, but something is better than nothing, so don't lose too much sleep over this.

Timeline dates are based on the number of days before or after the date you roll out the Internal Directory to your company. For instance, T-1 represents one day before your launch date, while T+7 represents seven days after your launch date.
