New Smart Group Flexibility
New Smart Group Flexibility
Have you ever wanted to create a group in Bridge for people hired during a certain time period, like everyone hired in the year 2020, for example? Maybe you wanted to create a cohort of learners for a specific department regardless of who the manager is, or how many managers there are in that department. Then when you went into Bridge to create your smart group, you were disappointed because “Hire Date” or “Departement” weren’t fields from which you could choose when establishing your rules for group membership.
Your days of frustration are over!
In the past few weeks, it's been exciting to speak with clients about some of the changes that were just released with Smartgroups. In June (6.14.21 Release Notes), we finally made it possible for standard Bridge fields that came with our software to be used for Smartgroups.
The fields that are now newly available for Smartgroups are denoted with a key that represents these native Bridge fields.
Among this group of fields is the Hire date which will help to improve how you and your organization manage your onboarding programs, or even for some of your more seasoned employees; If you are already using a Hire Date, this release provides additional logic for dates such as, “is after, “is before” and “is between” with the Hire Date field to better facilitate managing training for your employees of all levels of seniority.
In some cases, your organization may have already mapped a separate custom Hire Date field for this value, so in order to take advantage of our new logic, we would simply need to remap this value to Bridge’s Hire Date pill (with the Key) to tap our new logic conditions.
Unique Identifier
Here’s a fun addition, the Unique Identifier field. At first glance, you may not think Unique Identifier would be useful in creating smart groups, after all, it’s an identifier that is unique to each Bridge user. But let’s say you have a smart group and you want to exclude one or just a few people from the group. Using a Unique Identifier with the criteria “is not” will allow you to select certain individuals to exclude from a smart group.
If you haven’t seen these changes yet, pop on over to Manage Groups in Bridge and take a look. Maybe create a Smart Group or two while you’re in there.
