Wait List - can you turn off automatic add?

Natalie Clarke

Hello, I have recently returned from maternity leave and am delighted to see that the Wait list function has been switched on. I have a few questions...

Is there a way to turn off the automatic add, or is this on the roadmap? In it's current form we are not able to use as we often prioritise the waitlist based on need rather than first in first served, it appears this is how learners are added to spaces that become available.

Further to this, I find the WL being specific to a session rather than the entire learning a little hard as it pigeonholes a learner to only one date - when in actual fact they may be able to attend another.

Is anyone else finding the new function somewhat limiting, or have you found useful - would be keen to hear other experiences as I could be being a little close minded.

    Hello Natalie!

Welcome back from maternity leave! I'm glad you're finding the waitlisting functionality helpful. We do not currently have any way to turn off the automatic enrollment for waiters, and it's not currently on the roadmap. The push for the waitlisting capability was to make it as automatic as possible to minimize the need for admin intervention. Given some of our other priorities, it may be some time until we get this on the roadmap.

It would also be helpful if you could set a deadline for waitlist substitutions. We don't typically use the web tool functionality because 1) it doesn't work with Teams and 2) it locks people out if they aren't there on time. Since we have a lot of people who either have back-to-back meetings, might have a technology glitch, or late for whatever reason, if they are locked out they can't participate at all. I don't like that this is out of our control.

Anyway, we have to send email invites for the Teams session separately from the Bridge invite. Before the waitlist functionality, we could allow open registration and when we were ready to send the invite the day before the session we would just select the current number of participants as the capacity to prevent people from registering without our knowledge after the invite had been sent. Now we have to check the list again right before the session to make sure we don't miss any last minute swaps between the initial registrants and any who were on the wait-list.

    Hey Amy,

We're not currently looking at inserting a deadline for waitlists substitutions. However, we do have requests for deadlines for live trainings in general and this is something we are looking at doing in the future, but the date is yet to be determined.
