How to see how long someone spent in a SCORM course.
I'm curious what SCORM provider you used? I have SCORM content from two vendors; SafetySkills.com and LearningHeroes.com.
I can see how much time people spent in each course by exporting the completed learners report
I make my own SCORM courses in Captivate and I can also see the time spent per learner by exporting the completed learners report, just like Lena Smith
Ok. We are purchasing Captivate and this Bridge document How do I view a Completed Learners report for my account? says "Time in course does not include time spent in an uploaded (SCORM) course and is not recorded until the learner takes an action (e.g. goes to the next slide, goes to the previous slide, or leaves the course)." But it sounds like it actually does record the amount of time people spend in the course, even if the course is from a SCORM? Then I don't understand what the documentation is trying to say.Lena Smith, Raheel Alam
I've done some testing and i'm confident that Uploaded (SCORM) courses do report time spent in course. (Test 1 is a SCORM course in my instance for testing things). The documentation is out of date, maybe needs some new punctuation and needs to be updated Stefanie Sanders. I recall an update happening to SCORM packages in Bridge some months again, it looks like the documentation wasn't updated at the same time to reflect updates to SCORM files in Bridge- i know there have been several such updates in 2017.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Raheel! I'll share this with some of our team members for review.
Marcie, we'll still do some double-checking on this, but here's an update: This is possible to accomplish, as long as the course has been set up to pass the information back to Bridge; the time spent is calculated through the SCORM course itself, and then should pass back to Bridge. At that point, time spent should show up under the Completed Learners report as a time-in-course. A caveat is that if the data is set up to not pass back until the learner finishes course, time spent will show as 0 until the learner completes the course. Here's a link to the Bridge | SCORM Best Practices document.
Marcie Musser let's take a moment to Celebrate today! I hope these responses have addressed your question; the calculation is all based on time-in-course settings, with caveats as listed above.
Generally speaking, each SCORM situation is unique, so if you have additional questions about this, we hope you will reach out to Bridge Support for assistance so that a member of the support team will be able to look at all of the settings that are specific to your SCORM application.
