I see references to and how to use a checkpoint but I have not found anything on what exactly a checkpoint is.
I believe a 'Checkpoint' is the point within a Course that an Author is requiring a User to complete an action, whether it be uploading a video, taking a photo or filling out a document and sending it.
Hope this helps.
Greetings Peter Sternfels and Patrick Sumpter Thank You for your response. I like this quote from the top of the guide How do I add a checkpoint?
Checkpoints are learning content items that include a title and a set of instructions for learners to follow. Learners see assigned checkpoints on their My Learning page. When a learner finishes a checkpoint, they can mark the checkpoint as complete. You can add a checkpoint to assign action items to learners in your account.
Yes it does help. It makes a lot more sense. Now to figure out how if this can be utilized at my company.
Same here Peter. I'm deciding if I want to use the Program feature to create the structure for new employee onboarding and if Checkpoints are the way to designate OTJ activities or other tasks they need to complete.
I think the Checkpoint is ideal for OTJ. What better way to determine if the learner has grasped the concept(s) being presented and then incorporate them in to real life.

We currently use them within a program, frequently - but not exclusively - for required learning activities outside of a formal training setting. It could be components or an OJT checklist, scheduling a meeting with a mentor / coach, or completing any other designated activity.
