what is this icon? I think it has to do with coding but i'm not sure... I've been looking all over for some help, but every tutorial or guide i've found for course creation doesn't have it in the guide.
Hi Jillian Danaitis,
This is for Monospace Code Blocks. This was added in the 8/23 release: Bridge Learn Release Notes (2018-08-23)
Additional information may be found here: Embedding monospace lines into a course
Okay, so I looked at this information. I am still confused on how I can use this and why I would use this. Can you explain what this is for in more detail for the average person?
Hi Todd, it's confusing! I had to have someone at Bridge walk me through it over the phone. Here's the skinny:
There is a defined list of web apps/sites that can have content embedded into your Bridge pages. This includes, for example YouTube. In a normal HTML page, you can simply use HTML embed tags, or iFrame tags to insert other web content into your page. Because Bridge is so simple and you can't use HTML tagging in your pages, they provided an alternate way to embed web content from elsewhere. The icon you asked about is this tool. You can't embed EVERY other kind of web content, but peruse this doc (What content can be embedded in Bridge? ) for a list of approved content. You also can't do things like set thumbnail size or other customizations, but at least you can embed. See picture. I haven't tried the other types of embedded content, but hopefully I have helped!
For YouTube, you don't even have to use the "embed" version of the URL - you can just copy it out of the browser as is.
