I wanted to develop Tableau dashboards based off of learner stats and insights. But, I do not know how to connect the bridge instance to Tableau, need some help/guidance!
Thanks a lot!
Hi again Bhargav Somaiya. I don't have experience with this, but since there may be more than one possible answer to your question, I am going to change it to a discussion.
Hi Bhargav Somaiya,
My hunch is that this may be possible with the Bridge API, but I'm not super experienced with the API... yet. Perhaps Joshua Pope may have some insight here.
From my experience, using a limited API environment (like Postman) to get and put data in Bridge is quite a bit different from writing a full integration with the API to have Bridge interact with another database. I know how to use Postman to get data in and out of Bridge, but I haven't written integrations between Bridge and other environments. My understanding is that this takes someone with some coding experience (in Ruby) or with webhook experience to write a more complete integration.
Tableau has some documentation on their connectivity options here: Data Connectivity Tools & APIs | Tableau
I don't know which of the options will work, but someone with that type of API coding experience would probably know right away what to do.
Bridge has awesome documentation on their API here: Bridge LMS API Documentation
If you put those two sites in the hands of an engineer in your IT department, I bet they can make magic with it.
Joshua is on the right track here. I'd set up some PHP on a web server so that it could run at set times and take the data from Tableau and put it into Bridge or vice-versa. If you'd want it do manually, this would allow for different languages as well and you expand out to using things like Python. Happy to help with any questions that you may have coding-wise.
