trying to upload a csv for one user with Historical data. but uploading into different courses takes bit of time. so need to know work around.
Hi Parminder Sohal,
I feel your pain. May I ask why only this user is impacted? The historical data import is really designed for mass imports and not individual.
This would be easiest accomplished, I think, with the API if we talking about 10 or more courses that you are trying to import data for. If less than 10, it is probably easiest to just do it individually.
If you aren't familiar with the API, you can learn how to use it step-by-step from this blog post: A Whole New Level of Awesome: Using the Bridge API. That's a little shameless plug for a post I just wrote and some videos I made. I find the API to be a great tool for things like this.
In a nutshell, here's how you would do it:
1. Run a batch file to get the person into all of the courses.
2. Export the All Data Download and gather the enrollment IDs for those enrollments you created.
3. Run a second batch file to alter the data for the enrollments.
If you need any help making that happen, let me know and I can talk you through things in more detail or jump on a call with you or something.
Correction: You can actually just put in the completion data and other bits of information as part of the original enrollment request with the API. No need to do steps 2 and 3 if the person hasn't been enrolled in the courses yet.
Parminder Sohal, have you reviewed the document entitled How do I upload historical course completion data with a CSV file?
Under the section, Confirm Multiple-Course CSV Format, it shows a sample of a CSV file that allows for enrollments among multiple courses by adding a column for the Bridge course ID. If you were to add this value to the CSV file and then follow this note (from the same document):
Note: To upload historical enrollments in multiple courses, visit [myaccount].bridgeapp.com/author/course/enrollments/upload. Ensure your CSV has a populated Course ID column. Then, follow the steps below.
Keep in mind this is for a single completed enrollment for a user in each course but allows the upload to be for enrollments multiple courses. So you could have user X enrolled in courses A, B, C, and D for example but not enrolled in course A twice, course B three times, or course C five times.
I hope this helps.
