Need to set up a training for a specific group of people and only they have access to the course. Are there settings for this? Thanks.
Hi John Eriksen,
There are a couple of different ways to accomplish this. It really depends on exactly how you want the restriction to work. You can create a group using How do I create a group? or smart groups with How do I create a smart group? The first type of group allows you to create the list of learners manually and the second is based on some data point or set of points (department, location, etc. - it just depends on what user data your company enters).
Once you have created the group, you will then assign it to the course. How do I find a group to add to a course? You can choose a relevance of required, recommended, or available in the library. VisitHow do I add a course to the Learning Library? for help. This makes it searchable for learners so you don't have to enroll them if the course is optional for your group.
You might also want to add categories. If a course is in a category, you can assign that category to a group or put the category in the library so that the group can find the course and enroll. The guide for that can be found at How do I create and manage categories in an account? Once the category is created, you will have to put the content in that category. Courses can have multiple categories just like they can have multiple tags How do I create and manage categories in an account? and How do I add a category to a learning content item in an account? will provide more information.
If none of this answers your question, provide a specific use-case and I'll try to help out.
