Managing Skills in the Talent Marketplace

This article provides an overview of the Talent Marketplace menu items and guides customers who have purchased Develop or Perform through managing Skills as an Administrator.

When an Admin selects a specific Skill, they can view associated Job Titles, Descriptors, and Courses, offering a clear overview of how that Skill is applied and developed within the organization.

Job Titles Tab:

Admins can view and manage all Job Titles mapped to a specific Skill, with the option to manually add additional Job Titles. Any new Skills added to a Job Title will automatically appear on the Job Titles page.

Descriptors Tab:

Admins can add Descriptors to each Skill and can indicate if it is Positive or Negative:

  • The 31 default Bridge Skills will only have pre-populated Descriptors.
  • These Descriptors are displayed when looking at Skill Feedback assessment requests.

Courses Tab:

Admins can manage Courses related to each Skill by clicking '+ Add Course' to associate new Courses or using the 'x' to remove them. Additionally, admins can organize Courses in ascending or descending order and display up to 100 courses per page for easier navigation.

Settings page:

In the Talent Marketplace, admins can manage key permissions on the Settings page under the Permissions tab. They can control features like disabling the organization chart, skill communities, and people search. The 'Disable the Bridge skill library' setting limits skill searches to only those curated by admins when enabled, while toggling it off gives users access to the full Bridge skills library, allowing them to add skills to their profiles and development plans.

FAQ's for Managing Skills in Talent Marketplace:

Can Skills be archived?

Admins can archive any skill. Archived skills that were previously connected to a Course, Profile, Focus Skills or Skills Feedback request will be preserved. Archiving a skill will only impact the root account and not the sub-accounts.

Can Skills be deleted?

Admins can only delete Archived skills that aren’t already mapped to a Skill Feedback assessment or to a Course. Deleting a skill will only impact the root account and not the sub-accounts.

Can Skill names be edited?

Admins can only edit custom Skill names that were added by their organization.

What do the Skill tags signify?

There are three types of Skill tags which can be used as filters on the Skills page of the Talent Marketplace:

  • Bridge (normalized) = Lightcast Skill Library (i.e. Skills added to Profiles). We have partnered with Lightcast who is a worldwide authority on labor market data and we utilize their library of 32k+ Skills.
  • Bridge Default =  The 31 Bridge default skills which are mapped to Lightcast.
  • Custom = Custom skills manually added by the Admin that are not found in Lightcast.
