Career Pathing: Job Role Discovery & Skill Gap Analysis

Understanding the roles your employees aspire to and the skills they need to get there is essential for driving both individual growth and organisational success. This article explores how job role discovery and skill gap analysis can help identify development opportunities, align talent with business needs, and build a more future-ready workforce.

Explore Job Roles and Detailed Skill Descriptions in the Skills Community

The Skill Community allows learners to explore job roles within their company that align with specific skills, complete with role recommendations and detailed skill descriptions.

Explore Future Roles and Uncover Skill Gaps in Your Community

The Skill Community now includes a new "Future Roles" page, offering the following features:

Discover Job Roles
Explore current job roles listed in the Talent Marketplace and save them as potential future roles within your Career Vision.

Identify Skill Gaps

  • View the key skills required for each job role
  • Instantly see where your gaps are:
    • Skills you already have are highlighted in green
    • Skills not yet on your profile are marked in red

Learning & People Recommendations

  • Get personalized learning content to help close your skill gaps
  • Connect with peers in your company who can support your development journey

Define Your Career Path with Future Roles in Career Vision

Career Vision empowers learners to identify future roles that align with their interests and ambitions. They can tailor each role with personalized descriptions, helping to create a clear, meaningful path toward their long-term career goals. This feature encourages proactive development and supports continuous growth by connecting aspirations with actionable learning opportunities.

Talent Marketplace

You’ll now see the department listed next to each job title in the Talent Marketplace. If no department has been assigned, it will show as “No Department Assigned.”

You’ll also see the job title’s department displayed in the Skills & Future Roles Community.

Please note that department assignments cannot be updated directly within the Talent Marketplace. These changes must be managed in the Users and Permissions section. Once a new department is assigned to a job title in Bridge, it may take up to 24 hours for the update to appear in the Talent Marketplace due to overnight system synchronization.

When the same job title, such as "Project Manager", is used across multiple departments (e.g., IT and Marketing), it will appear as separate listings in the Talent Marketplace. For example, "Project Manager" will be listed once under IT and once under Marketing.

Manage Future Roles Visibility

Within the Talent Marketplace Settings  page, administrators can manage the Future Roles visibility setting for the Future Roles feature.

This setting uses an “enable” model, allowing organizations to turn on Future Roles only once they have fully prepared and mapped their workforce skills. When enabled, employees can explore potential future roles and immediately view corresponding skill gaps, encouraging a proactive approach to career development.
