BAM: How to Bulk Upload Media Content

The Bulk Upload feature allows you to upload and organize large sets of files all at once. This saves time and automatically creates a container structure based on the contents of your ZIP file.

Follow the steps below to get started with Bulk Upload.

Select the Bulk Upload Option

First, click the + button in the bottom-right corner, then select Upload Resource from the menu.

Select Bulk Upload. A short setup wizard will then appear.

Choose Processing Options

First, upload your ZIP file. You’ll then decide whether to:

  • Upload the files into a newly created container, or
  • Upload the files into the container you are currently in.

Next, you’ll choose how to handle specific file types in your upload:

Child ZIP Files

  • Treat as media files (available for download only), or
  • Treat as SCORM/Rustici content (processed as e-learning packages).

PDF Files

  • Treat as media files, or
  • Treat as viewable PDFs.

Automatic Container Creation

The platform will automatically recreate your folder structure. Each folder in your ZIP file becomes a container at the same nesting level, and any media files inside those folders are added as children of their respective containers. Child ZIP files and PDFs are processed based on the settings you selected earlier.

When the upload is complete, you’ll see a hierarchy that mirrors the structure of your original ZIP file.

Track Upload Progress

After the upload begins, you can monitor progress in the Upload Status view. Here, you can:

  • See pending, successful, and failed items
  • View the total number of items detected in the ZIP file
  • Get real-time updates as containers and media are created

This allows you to confirm that every file and folder has been processed correctly.

Tips for a Smooth Bulk Upload

  • Check your ZIP file: Ensure folder names and structure are correct before uploading.
  • Keep file sizes reasonable: Large uploads may take longer to process.
  • Use clear names: Container names are based on folder names — using descriptive labels will make navigation easier later.
