How to Register Learner Attendance for Live Training Sessions With a QR Code

Bridge now allows instructors and admins to track learner attendance in real time for in-person live training sessions using a QR code.

This feature simplifies attendance tracking and reporting, giving learners an easy way to check in, and reducing post-session admin work.

Key Benefits

  • Increased Efficiency: Streamlines the check-in process for learners, instructors, and admins.
  • Reduced Admin Work: Removes the need to manually record attendance after the session.
  • More Seamless Access: Learners can scan directly using the Bridge mobile app’s built-in camera.

How Instructors and Admins Enable QR Code Attendance

There’s no additional setup required—the QR code is automatically generated for every live training session when it’s created.

To display the QR code:

  1. Navigate to the Learners page of the specific live training session.
  2. Click the mobile icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. A unique QR code will appear, ready for learners to scan during check-in.

Note: A printable version of the QR code is in development and will be available in a future update.

Learner Experience: Scanning the QR Code

Learners can register attendance in two ways:

Option 1: Using the Bridge Mobile App

Within the designated time window, learners can access the in-app QR code reader:

  • From the Learning Page:

Locate the live training card on the My Learning page and tap the QR code icon in the upper-left corner.

  • From the Session Page:

Open the live training course, go to the specific session, and tap Scan QR Code.

Option 2: Using the Device Camera

Learners can also scan the code using their device’s native camera app.

When scanned, a link will appear—tapping it will take them directly to attendance registration in Bridge.

Attendance Rules (Auditing Information)

It’s important to note that two conditions must be met for a scan to count toward attendance:

1. Learner Must Be Registered First

  • Scanning the QR code does not automatically register a learner for the session.
  • The learner must be registered before scanning to receive an attendance credit.

2. Time Window Restriction

  • The QR code becomes active 15 minutes before the scheduled session start time.
  • Scanning is disabled once the session ends.
  • Attendance cannot be registered outside this window.

By using QR codes for live training sessions, Bridge simplifies attendance tracking, enhances the learner experience, and reduces administrative workload.

This feature makes it easier than ever to confirm participation in real time and maintain accurate training records.
