How to Create a Development Plan in Bridge
Hover over Me in the global navigation, then click Development Plan.
Choose a Skill to Focus On
Type a word or phrase into the search bar to look for a skill. As you start typing, you'll see relevant suggestions. Choose the skill you want to focus on, and click to add it to your plan.
Define Your Success Criteria
Once you’ve selected a skill, you have the opportunity to write your own success measurement in the free text box.
This step is optional, but it will help you determine when you’ve achieved your goal. Click Done to save your description or Skip to leave it blank.
Add Skills Activities
You’ll then be able to add activities to support you in achieving your desired skill. These activities are also optional, but recommended.
You can add the following Skills Activities to your plan:
Goals
Your goals will give you focus and direction for your development plan. Click Add Goal, then enter a name, and assign a due date. Click Create to save your goal, or Cancel to discard it.
If you have existing goals in Bridge, you can add them. You’ll find them under Use an existing goal, within the Active tab.
You’ll find these goals listed under the corresponding skill and sorted by completion status. To remove a goal, click the X or the trash can icon. Mark it done by clicking Complete.
Tip: Any goals you’ve added to your development plan will also appear in your individual goals. Navigate to Me > Goals to find them.
Tasks
Tasks help you take actionable steps toward skills development. Click Add Task and type a description into the free text box. Then click Create to add it to your plan or Cancel to discard it.
To delete a task, click the trash can icon at the bottom of the card.
Enroll
Learning is an effective way to build skills. Click Enroll and use the search bar to find relevant learning resources.
You can further refine your search using the sort and filter functions in the top right-hand corner of the page.
When you find a learning item, click Add to Skill to save it to your development plan. You’ll find it beneath any goals and tasks.
Tip: Click Collapse to keep your development plan tidy. You can click Expand to view all details at any time.
Add Additional Skills
You should select up to three skills to focus on at a given time. This keeps your plan manageable and helps you track your progress effectively without feeling overwhelmed.
If you want to focus on a different skill, click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Finish for Now to remove it from your current focus.
You can also add a success statement to an existing skill by clicking Add Success Statement.
Mark an Item Complete
Click Complete when you’re done with an item. This will appear as complete on your development plan and will be added to your timeline. You’ll see the number of steps you’ve taken as you progress through your development plan.
