How to Create and Manage Your Career Development Plan in Bridge

Using the Development Plan feature in Bridge is an effective way to support your professional growth. It helps you identify the skills you want to develop, set clear learning goals, and track your progress as you achieve key milestones.

Please note that access is limited to accounts with Talent Suite, our skills management platform. To learn more about this product, please fill out this form.

Take an interactive walkthrough or read our guidance below to learn how you can use Bridge to develop your skills and track growth.

1. Access Your Development Plan

Hover over or click Me in the global navigation menu, then select Development Plan.

2. Choose a Skill to Focus On

Type a word or phrase into the search bar to look for a skill. As you type, relevant suggestions will appear. Select the skill you want to focus on and click it to add it to your plan.

Tip: You can select up to three skills to focus on at a given time. This keeps your plan manageable and helps you track your progress effectively without feeling overwhelmed.

3. Define Your Success Criteria

Once you’ve selected a skill, you can write your own success measurement in the free text box (or click Add Success Statement on an existing skill).
This step is optional, but it helps you determine when you’ve achieved your goal. Click Done to save your description or Skip to leave it blank.

4. Add Skills Activities

After selecting a focus skill, you can add activities to support your growth. While optional, adding activities is highly recommended.

Goals

Goals give focus and direction to your development plan.

  • Adding Goals:
    • Create a new goal: Click Add Goal, enter a name, set a due date, and click Create (or Cancel to discard).
    • Use an existing goal: If you have existing goals, select them from the Active tab under the Use an existing goal section.
  • Managing Goals: Goals are listed under their corresponding skill and sorted by completion status. Click the X or trash can icon to remove a goal, or click Complete to mark it done.
  • Visibility: Any goals added to your development plan will also appear in your individual goals (Go to Me > Goals to find them).

Tasks

Tasks break your development down into actionable steps.

  • Click Add Task, type a description into the text box, and click Create (or Cancel to discard).
  • To delete a task, click the trash can icon at the bottom of the card.

Enroll (Learning Resources)

Associating learning items (courses, programs, or live training) with a focus skill allows you to plan and track progress toward mastering that skill.

  1. Click Enroll.
  2. Search: Enter a term in the search bar. If using the Develop offering, AI will proactively recommend content from the course library tagged with your focus skill.
  3. Sort & Filter: Refine your search using the controls in the top right-hand corner:
    • Sort By: Date added, title (A–Z or Z–A), or duration.
    • Filter By: Content type, duration, certificate availability, SCORM format, or tag.
  4. Add to Skill: Hover over a learning item card and click Add to Skill to save it to your plan (it will appear beneath your goals and tasks). Click the Close icon to exit the learning pane.
  5. Start Learning: Click Start Course to begin.

Important Notes on Learning Items:

  • Visibility: Learning items enrolled via the Development Plan also display on your My Learning page (under the Added by You section), and your manager can see your completion progress.
  • Deleting vs. Unenrolling: Clicking the Delete (trash can) icon removes the learning item from your focus skill, but does not unenroll you from the course. You can only unenroll from self-enrolled learning items directly on the My Learning page.

5. Manage and Complete Plan Items

  • Keep It Tidy: Click Collapse to keep your development plan clean, or Expand to view full details at any time.
  • Switch Focus: If you want to stop focusing on a skill, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the skill card and select Finish for Now to remove it from your active focus.
  • Mark Complete: Click Complete when you finish an item. It will show as complete on your development plan, and the total number of completed steps will update.
  • View Your Timeline: Navigate to Me > History to view your overall development history and timeline of completed items.
