Access to this feature requires Bridge Talent Suite, please speak to your Manager or Bridge Admin.
Adding skills and proficiency levels to your Bridge profile supports your career development by helping you visualize your current skills and those you need to build to achieve your goals.
Take a self-guided tour or read on below to see how to add skills and proficiencies to your learner profile.
Tip: Already added skills to your profile? Discover how to add proficiency levels.
1. Find Your Skills Profile
Navigate to your Bridge profile. Click your icon in the top-left corner of the primary navigation and select My Profile.
Every learner can add skills to their Bridge profile—this information is visible to your entire company.
Click the button in the top right corner of the screen that says Edit Profile and Skills, then navigate to the Skills tab.
2. Review Your Recommended Skills
Your Bridge profile will be blank, but to help you get started, you’ll see a dialog box with some recommended skills related to your job role.
Select any of these skills to add them to your profile, and remove them by clicking the X.
Once you’re done, click Ok to close the box and proceed.
3. Add Your Skills
Bridge is designed to support your development and growth, and there are three kinds of skills you can add to your profile:
- Skills you have
- Skills you can help with
- Skills you want to develop
Use the free-text search bar to search for skills you want to add, and select the correct option from the drop-down list.
Adding these skills strengthens collaboration across departments and builds your collective knowledge.
4. Select Your Proficiency Levels
By default, the proficiency level for each skill is set to Not Applicable. Open the drop-down to select the proficiency level that best matches your skill level.
Click the checkbox to select each skill you can help others with, and those you want to develop.
If a skill is marked Not Applicable, it won’t appear on your profile. Selecting No Level will display the skill without a proficiency level.
At the top of the page, you’ll see a link to View Skill Proficiency Level Descriptions. This will show you the skill proficiency levels mapped by your organization’s admins, along with descriptions of each level, to guide you when evaluating your own skill levels.
5. Define Your Interests
You can also add your interests to your profile as free-text entries. Unlike skills, your interests can’t be validated, but they’re useful for building connections with your peers.
6. Check Manager Approval
Your manager plays a key role in your development journey, and once you’ve evaluated your skills, you’ll see them under the Pending Validation visualization at the top of the page.
Your manager will receive a notification to review your selected skills and proficiencies. During this process, they can make adjustments and add additional skills to your profile.
Once completed, they’ll appear under Validated Skills.
7. View Your Skills and Proficiencies on Your Profile
Click Back to Profile to return. Your added skills will be displayed on your profile. Those awaiting manager validation will show a checkmark with an outline. Once validated, this will turn solid green.
