How do I extend a due date for a course for just 1 user?

Sandra Molinari

I have a user who's requesting an extension to their due date for completing courses. It's currently set for 2 weeks but I'd like to give them a full month. How do I extend it just for the one user, rather than set it for all users?

    Hi Sandra!

I'm a newer user and haven't done this myself yet.  But, I checked on an item I have learners assigned to.  When I hover on the date in the Due Date column, two options show:  No due date or Pick a date.  This course is technically overdue for the learner I was looking at and I'm wondering if you will see these if the item is not yet overdue.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time to share your input, Katie. I am grateful to you for pointing out that option. It's all I needed. Take care!

    Hello,

Katie is correct. All you have to do is click on the due date and you can manually adjust. If you want to adjust for a group of learners, you can also upload a CSV with a new due date for that group of people. A word of warning with that method is that the "enrollment date" will become the date that you uploaded the new user list, not the date they were originally enrolled, but this is helpful if you have several people so you don't have to manually load each one.

I ALWAYS download the existing roster first so if I make a mistake and need to revert back to the original state I have that data handy in a CSV file that can be uploaded quickly. Then, save a copy, delete the rows you don't need, and adjust the users who need their date changed. View How do I add or update users to a course via CSV? for more help.

One other tip is to be very careful about using the "pick a date" option. If the course is recurring, that could cause it to automatically be overdue the next time it launches.

    Best regards,

    Amy
