I would LOVE to have a warning before Archive or Delete
I would LOVE to have a warning before Archiving or Deleting a course that is being used in a Program or Journey (and even better … where exactly it's being used). Is this on the radar? Right now my very manual process is to look at the guts of every single Program and Journey to ensure that the course (with no learners ever) isn't specified, and only then can I archive it. This is far too time consuming and ripe for human error.

Thanks for the feedback, Heidi Clark ! I wanted to confirm that I've passed this along to our product team as I'm not aware of any warnings that we have planned for archiving or deleting content that could be used in Programs or Journeys.
We do have an article here on how to find what courses belong to what Programs. Programs can be found under the “Associated Content” navigation in the course settings. That article also shows how to do this using the data dump files.
We don't currently have Journeys available in this list in the interface or as an export in the data dump (that is on our radar).
Hello!
I've used Course Tags to get around this (Active Journey Requirement). Doesn't help you now, but if you add that during course updates/creation, you can then run analytics by those tags if you need to export the list, or you can just click the tag to see the list of associated content.
We went back and forth on if anyone needs to see that information. In the case, you don't want people to see your tag, you could use a Category instead, and then just not add any groups under visibility.
Onward!
Thanks, Stephanie and Justin.
Justin, I found that if I have multiple tags, when I print a report, I don't see all the tags – only the first one. I do like your idea of building Categories that learners don't see. Stephanie suggested the same. I'm going to give that a try! Appreciate you for reaching out to me.
Stephanie Kemp - I created two duplicative Programs to mirror active Journeys that are being used by learners in order that I might see which content is being used in Journeys and not delete them, even if there was no usage. At first, I did not publish the Programs and I did not see them listed in ASSOCIATED CONTENT for any of the specified courses. Once I published them, I could see the references. Not a bad workaround. I put notes in the description to warn learners not to use it.
Also … related … I was able to archive old Programs no longer in use, but it doesn't look like I can archive old Journeys. Is that right? And I can turn a Program into a Journey, but not vice versa. Is that right? Is the long-term plan to retire Programs?
Hey, Heidi Clark ! Journeys cannot be archived at this time, and that is on the roadmap (so that they function like the other learning items). Yes, you can turn a Program into a Journey and not vice-versa. We have no current plans to retire Programs.
Ok - that's good to know. In the meantime, I think I'll use Categories instead. They're so versatile for solving little problems like this.
