FAQ
SMART GROUPS & CUSTOM FIELDS
If a department sets up a Smart Group and then the learner leaves that department, but does not leave Bridge, would removal of that learner would be a manual process? And similarly, would a new learner to that department would have to be manually added to the Smartgroup? Or could all of that be automated through custom fields?
All Smart Group assignments are automated based on the attributes on a user's profile. If their user data matches the criteria of a Smart Group, they will be automatically added to that group and enrolled in any content assigned to the group. Similarly, if a user's data changes, let's use department for example, Bridge will automatically remove them from their existing group (say Sales) and put them in the group that reflects their new department (HR) if a Smart Group for the HR department already exists.
Can you pull reports in analytics from that "other information" section?
Yes! All custom field data is available in analytics
You can only assign one manager per individual, correct?
That is correct. It does create a manager hierarchy though, so a manager’s entire downline is visible to them in their default Smart Group and in their Analytics data.
Is there a way to leverage smart groups to enable secondary/dotted line managers visibility into employee transcripts?
Custom fields can be leveraged for this, in order to create project or secondary role/department/etc. groups, but it will not create manager visibility for those secondary line leaders.
If I set up a smart group for new starters on a timed basis, will they still be part of the All Learners group and as such their training history will carry over - Right?
Yes! The All Learners group is a default group, and every user remains in the group permanently regardless of their participation in other groups. With this, if they are added to groups with enrollments in the same content, Bridge will recognize the users status in the learning item.
If we use a smart rule to assign mandatory training to a new joiner - they have to stay in that group to re-certify training
Correct! If a user is removed from the enrollment source, the smart group, the re-enrollment settings will also be removed. Smart Group enrollment behaviors can be found here.
If I add people to a new group and require the same course, will it re-trigger that re-enrollment?
It would depend on their status in the learning item at the point of moving enrollment source. If they were already complete in that piece of content, their completion would transfer. Everything you wanted to know about enrollment behaviors in Bridge can be found here.
SUBACCOUNTS
To set up a sub account, is Bridge support needed?
No! Account Admins can create sub accounts under Admin> General > Subaccount> +Add Account. They are free to create and use (licence utilization considered).
CATEGORIES
Is there a way to manage courses in a category without having it organized by the date the course was created?
The default view in the Learning Library, and therefore how content within a Category is sorted, is by date added. You can use the sort by filter to adjust the sorting behavior (ex. Title A-Z)
BRIDGE ADVANCED MEDIA
Can you pull reports of who watched or consumed advanced media?
Yes, metrics and analytics are available for Bridge Advanced Media to provide data on views and time spent in resource. BAM data is not tied to UID (user). You can find more on BAM reporting here.
Can BAM (BAV) support PowerPoint animations?
Yes. Pro Tip: You will want to download the ppt as a mp4 and upload as a video to maintain the animations!
