How do I navigate an online course?

Your online course can contain a variety of content, including text, media, embedded videos, and quizzes. Learn how to view each content type and advance through your course.

View Navigation

When you begin or view a course, the bar at the top of the course will indicate your course progress [1].

To complete your course at a later time and return to My Learning, click the Back to My Learning link [2].

Return to Previous Page

As you advance through the course, you can click the back arrow to return to the previous page.

Note: Once you have answered a quiz question, you can return to a previous quiz, but you cannot change your answers. However, if you choose to leave the course and come back later, the quiz questions will reset.

View Slides

Courses are comprised of course slides and may include quiz questions. Slides are pages with content, which may include text, media, or embedded videos.

To continue to the next page, click the Continue button.

View Comments

View Comments

If your course contains comment-enabled slides, you can view and post comments on those slides.

Note: You can still view comments for completed courses.

View Quiz

Your online course can contain a variety of quiz types, including vocabulary quizzes, steps in a process quizzes, factoid quizzes, multiple choice quizzes, multiple answer quizzes, sorting quizzes, and short answer quizzes. Learn more about the different quiz types you may see in your course.

View Quiz Feedback

Your quiz may display feedback created by the course author. Quiz feedback can be customized to provide additional information for correct and incorrect answers.

View Completed Course

Once you have completed your course, the Completed Course page will display. To return to your My Learning page, click the Back to My Learning button [1].

To view your certificate for completing the course, click the view certificate link [2].

Note: A score will not be displayed for courses without quiz questions.

View Failed Course

If you fail to earn the required score on a course with quiz questions, the Failed Attempt page will display. If an attempt limit has been set for your course, you can view the attempts you have remaining [1]. To begin the course again, click the Retry button [2]. To return to the My Learning page, click the Back to My Learning button [3].

Note: A score will not be displayed for courses without quiz questions or passing requirements.

View Final Attempt

When you only have one attempt left, an alert will display on the course cover slide.

View Permanently Failed Course

View Permanently Failed Course

If you reach the course attempt limit without passing, you have permanently failed the course.
