How to Trigger Re-Enrollment for Training Items Not Originally Set Up to Re-Enroll

There may be times when learners complete a course that's not configured for automatic re-enrollment, such as annual compliance training or certifications. The good news is that if learners have already completed a course in Bridge, you can enable re-enrollment for training using one of the two methods outlined below.

Note: For content to re-enroll learners, it must have an expiration date set in Bridge.

Option 1: Duplicate the Course and Configure Re-Enrollment Settings

This option creates a new version of the course that supports re-enrollment. Note that:

  • This option can only be used with Bridge-authored content (not SCORM or other third-party content).
  • Duplicating the course and configuring re-enrollment settings keeps the original course and its existing enrollments intact, so learner progress and completion data remain unchanged.

Before adding any enrollment sources (such as groups), make sure to:

  • Set the expiration date.
  • Define re-enrollment behavior (for example, re-enroll X days after expiration).

This approach is best when you want a clean version of a course moving forward without altering existing completions.

Option 2: Add Expiration Dates to Active Enrollment Completions via CSV

If you want to re-enroll learners into the same existing course, you can do so by updating completions with expiration dates.

  1. Export the enrollments from the course.

  2. Add an “Expiration Date” column to your CSV file.

  3. In this column, enter a date that’s a set number of days from each user’s completed_at date (e.g., 365 days).

  4. Re-import the updated file and map the expiration date field. This will not create new enrollments.

  5. Once imported:

    • Learners whose expiration date has already passed will automatically re-enroll.
    • Learners will receive a notification (unless notifications are disabled).
    • Some learners may already appear overdue depending on your re-enrollment timing settings.
    • Learners whose expiration date has not yet passed will re-enroll automatically when their expiration period ends.

Note: This method only works for active enrollments with a completion status.

By using either of these methods, you can easily manage recurring training requirements and ensure learners stay compliant with your organization’s learning cycles. Setting clear expiration and re-enrollment parameters not only helps maintain accurate tracking but also provides a seamless experience for learners — ensuring they’re always up to date with essential training.
