Accessing Skillsoft Content in Bridge

There are two ways to access Skillsoft content within Bridge:

1. Via the Author menu:

Go to Author > and click Courses.

Courses imported from the Skillsoft integration will display the Skillsoft logo. Admins can filter by Content Type and select Skillsoft in the Courses tab.

2. Via the Admin menu:

Go to Admin > Learning > Manage Categories. There, you’ll find pre-populated Skillsoft categories ready to use.

Assigning Course Categories

When Skillsoft content is provisioned in Bridge, it’s automatically mapped to a category.

Key points to note about Skillsoft content categories:

Behavior

Category names are unique. When Skillsoft content is provisioned in Bridge, and a category already exists in your system, the content automatically merges with your existing category.

If no category exists in Bridge, a new one will be created.

If a Skillsoft category is edited or deleted in Bridge, it will reappear after the nightly content sync.

Example A: You have a category named “Professional Improvement,” and the Skillsoft content requires the category “Professional Improvement.” The Skillsoft courses will be merged into your existing “Professional Improvement” category alongside existing courses.

Example B: You have a category named “PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT” and Skillsoft content includes a category called “Professional Improvement.” Since category names are case-sensitive in Bridge, the Skillsoft courses will be placed in a separate category.

User Access

Categories aren’t automatically available to all learners. You must assign users individually or in groups.

Flexibility

There will only be one category associated with a Skillsoft course.

Skillsoft courses can be added to your existing categories to consolidate content.

Admins can’t edit the categories associated with Skillsoft courses, but they can add additional categories and tags to individual Skillsoft courses.

Tip: Read our guide to learn more about adding a category to a learning content item in your account.

Auto-Tagging Content

Bridge leverages a dynamic database of 32,000 job titles and corresponding skills, powered by Lightcast, to automatically tag each Skillsoft course imported into Bridge. By analyzing the course title, description, learning objectives, and associated content, Bridge intelligently determines and associates the most relevant skills.

As a result, your courses are ready to assign, track, and report on skills right out of the box. They can also be recommended to learners based on skills gaps and career aspirations, helping you personalize learning and ensure alignment with your organization’s development goals.

Administering Skillsoft Courses in Bridge

Skillsoft courses can be set to Required, Recommended, or Available in Library to control learner engagement. They can also be added to programs and journeys, and pushed to affiliated subaccounts.

Some course settings are hidden in Bridge. For example, the Required Score (80% by default) isn’t visible in Bridge until a learner has completed a course.

Most Skillsoft courses allow an unlimited number of attempts. Admins can navigate to Course > Quiz Settings > Limit Attempts in Bridge to control how many times a learner can relaunch the course.

Skillsoft Course Retirements

Skillsoft maintains its content library, and regularly retires, refreshes, and replaces training.

Important notes about course retirements:

  • When a course reaches its retirement date in Skillsoft, it will automatically be listed as Archived in your Bridge library.
  • Retired Course is displayed in the Archived section in your Bridge library.
  • Learner details in the course show the correct progress status when a course is retired.
  • A retired course won’t be shown to learners, and. If they've already completed it, it will be removed from the Completed section
  • The replacement course won’t have any enrollments, and will need to be added again.
  • A Skillsoft course that’s archived due to retirement or removal can’t be unarchived in Bridge. If an admin manually archives an active course, it can be unarchived as long as it’s still listed as Available/Active in the Skillsoft collection.
  • Skillsoft courses can’t be deleted, regardless of whether they’re active or archived.
