An Overview of Skill Proficiency Level Reports

Admins and Managers with access to Skills Analytics can view reports via Analytics > Skills.

In addition to showing whether employees have a skill, these reports help you understand:

  • The expected proficiency level for role-required skills
  • An employee's current proficiency level
  • Whether managers have validated skills
  • Employees with skills below their target proficiency levels
  • How employee proficiency levels change over time

Skill Proficiency Reports Available in Skills Analytics

Skill proficiency level reporting is available within the following widgets.

Job Titles

The Job Title widget displays the required skills for each job title, along with the expected proficiency level for each skill in that role.

Using these insights, you can define clear role expectations and create consistent training for employees. This also gives managers a consistent benchmark for defining success within their team.

How to view role proficiency requirements:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Skills
  2. Open the Job Titles report
  3. Select the value under Skills Mapped for a job title
  4. You’ll see a list of skills and proficiency levels for that skill

Profile Completeness

The Profile Completeness widget moves beyond employee skills, giving you an at-a-glance view of:

  • Skill name
  • Proficiency level
  • Validation status
  • Validator
  • Validation date

Managers can use this information to see where employees excel, where there’s room to develop, and to guide people toward targeted training using validated, not just self-reported, data.

How to view the Profile Completeness widget:

  1. Open the Profile Completeness report
  2. Select an employee’s skill from one of the available columns
  3. For each skill, you’ll see details about proficiency levels and validation

Workforce Skills Gap

The Below Target column within the Workforce Skill Gaps widget helps to distinguish between missing skills and skills that require further development.

This creates more visibility, highlighting employees who already possess a skill but need additional development to reach the expected proficiency level.

The drill-down displays:

  • Required skills
  • Target proficiency
  • Current proficiency
  • Validation details

How to find employees below target proficiency level:

  1. Open the Workforce Skill Gaps report
  2. Select a value in the Below Target column to view skills for a particular role
  3. You’ll see a list of learners who need support reaching expected proficiency levels in a skill

Skill Proficiency Progress Distribution

The Skill Proficiency Progress Distribution widget illustrates measurable skill proficiency growth over time across your workforce based on employees’ most recent validated proficiency change.

The drill-down displays:

  • Previous proficiency level
  • Current proficiency level
  • Progress type
  • Validation details

How to view skill proficiency progress:

  1. Open the Skill Proficiency Progress Distribution report
  2. Select Increase, Decrease, or No Change on the chart
  3. View a list of learners and their skill progression levels based on manager validation

Note: This report displays the most recent validated proficiency change for each skill. It is not intended to provide a complete historical audit of every proficiency update.
