How Do I Use Development Plans to Support Career Progression?

Overview

Development Plans now make it easier to understand your current skills and what to work on next. You can see how your skills support your career goals, find learning recommendations, and ask others for feedback, all from your plan.

To access your development plan, go to Me > Development Plan.

How Employees Can Use Skills Proficiency Levels To Achieve Career Goals

1. Choose Focus Skills and Set Target Proficiency

Focus skills represent the primary areas you want to grow during a development cycle.

  1. Navigate to your Development Plan.
  2. Select Choose a skill to focus on.
  3. Pick a recommended skill based on the current desired skills recorded on your profile (skills marked as "Developing" on your profile) or search for a new one.
  4. Select a Target Proficiency Level defining the level you are working toward.

Note: You can select up to three skills in your plan. Setting proficiency levels moves your goal from a broad idea (e.g., "Improve Communication") to a measurable target (e.g., "Communication – Advanced").

2. Find Targeted Learning Content

Once a skill and target level are set, your plan helps you bridge the gap with resources to help you build that skill:

  • Click Find Learning next to your focus skill.
  • Browse and filter content curated specifically for that skill and proficiency level.
  • Save or enroll in courses directly from your plan.

3. Request and View Skill Feedback

Gather insights on your progress from peers and managers inside your plan.

Requesting Feedback: Select the Request Feedback option on a focus skill card. You will be routed to the Feedback page to select reviewers and submit your request.

Note: If this option isn't visible, your organization may have disabled employee-initiated feedback requests. You can still ask your manager to submit a request on your behalf.

Tracking Progress: Once reviewers respond, your Development Plan automatically displays your latest skill feedback score right alongside your target level.

Note: The Feedback card is automatically added to your Development Plan for visibility and cannot be removed.
