How to Check Skill Proficiency Levels in the Skills Community

Navigate to Me > Skills Community.

Within the Skills Community, you can:

• View proficiency levels
• Check expected proficiency levels for role-required skills
• Review Skill Match calculations for future roles
• Get personalized learning recommendations
• Find coworkers who have specific skills

Managing Your Skills

Your Skills Profile is the foundation for personalized recommendations and career insights.

Within My Skills, you can:

• View your current proficiency level for each skill.
• See whether a skill has been validated.
• Add new skills using I Have Skill.
• Select a proficiency level when adding or updating a skill.
• Mark the skills you're currently developing.
• Mark skills you're willing to help others with.

Your skills are automatically organized into:

• Skills I have
• Skills I'm developing
• Skills I can help with

By default, your highest proficiency skills appear first.

View Skill Proficiency Levels in Your Profile

Every skill in your profile includes a proficiency level.

Understanding proficiency levels makes it easier to see where you are today and what level you'll need to reach for future career opportunities.

For each skill, you can:

• View your current proficiency level
• Update your proficiency level
• Read your organization's proficiency level descriptions
• View colleagues who share the skill
• Explore roles that require the skill

See If You’re Ready for Future Roles

Go to the Future Roles tab in the Skills Community to explore roles that align with your career interests. Bridge compares your current skills with the requirements for that role.

Rather than guessing whether you're ready for a role, the Skill Match overview shows how closely your current skills align with its requirements and highlights where to focus your development.

You'll see a Skill Match summary that includes:

• Skill Match (%): The percentage of required skills you've achieved at the expected proficiency level.
• Skills You Need: Required skills you don't yet have or haven't reached the expected proficiency level for.
• Skills You Have: Required skills you've already achieved at or above the expected proficiency level.

View Your Skill Gap Report

Select View Skill Gap Report to see a detailed comparison between your current skills and the requirements of a specific role.

The report helps you prioritize your development by showing you where additional development is needed and areas where you’re already proficient.

Recommended Skills

At the top of the report, you'll find Recommended Skills—these are the three skills you're closest to achieving for the selected role.

For each skill, you'll see:

• Your current proficiency level.
• The expected proficiency level.

These recommendations help you focus on the skills where relatively small improvements can make the biggest difference to your overall Skill Match.

Skills Not Met at Expected Level

This section lists the remaining required skills that are below the expected proficiency level, giving you a clear view of where to focus your development to meet the requirements.

This includes skills that you:

• Haven't added to your profile.
• Have added but haven't reached the expected proficiency level.

For each skill, you'll see:

• Your current proficiency level.
• The expected proficiency level.

Skills Met at Expected Level

This section displays a list of skills you're at or above the expected proficiency level.

These skills contribute to your overall Skill Match and highlight the areas where you're already prepared for your future role.

Find Colleagues Who Can Help You Develop

For many skills, you can view colleagues who have demonstrated expertise in that area.

This makes it easier to:

• Identify subject matter experts.
• Find potential mentors.
• Connect with colleagues who can support your development.

Receive Personalized Learning Recommendations

Based on your Skill Gap Report and proficiency levels, the Skills Community recommends learning that can help you develop the skills needed for your desired role.

As your skill profile becomes more complete, recommendations become increasingly personalized and relevant.

What Is a Proficiency Level?

A proficiency level represents your current ability in a particular skill. Your organization defines the proficiency levels and descriptions used throughout Skills Community.

Where Do the Expected Proficiency Levels Come From?

Expected proficiency levels are configured by your organization’s administrators when mapping skills to job roles.

What's the Difference Between Skills You Need and Skills You Have?

Skills You Have are required skills you've achieved at or above the expected proficiency level.

Skills You Need are required skills that you either haven't added to your profile or haven't yet reached the expected proficiency level for.

How Is Skill Match Calculated?

Skill Match is based on the percentage of required skills you've achieved at the expected proficiency level.

For example:

• A role requires 10 skills.
• You currently meet the expected proficiency level for eight of those skills.

Your Skill Match is 80%.

Can I Update my Proficiency Levels?

Yes. You can update the proficiency level for your skills at any time. Depending on your organization’s process, a manager may then validate your updated proficiency level.

Why are Some of My Skills Marked as Validated?

A validated skill indicates that a manager has reviewed and confirmed your reported proficiency level.

Why Don't I See a Skill Match for Every Role?

Skill Match is only available for roles where administrators have configured both required skills and expected proficiency levels.

How Are Learning Recommendations Generated?

Learning recommendations are based on the skills and proficiency levels you're missing for your selected role, helping you focus on the learning that's most relevant to your career development.
