Using Skill Feedback as Evidence for Assessing Skills

Overview

Skill profiles now include Skill Feedback Scores and Proficiency Level Descriptions, making it easier for employees and managers to see how strong a skill is and what the next level looks like.

Key Capabilities

  • View Feedback Context: See the latest Skill Feedback score, when it was submitted, and drill down into full assessment details.
  • Understand Skill Level Expectations: Access skill-specific descriptions that clarify what proficiency levels like Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert mean in practice.
  • Request Input: Solicit peer feedback directly from your skill profile (when enabled by your organization).

Using Skill Feedback on Your Profile: Learner Experience

When reviewing or self-assessing skills on your profile, your latest Skill Feedback score appears alongside each skill to help guide your selection:

  • View Details: Select any feedback score to open the complete Skill Feedback Assessment page.
  • No Prior Feedback: If no peer feedback has been submitted, the field displays None Applicable. You can still select and save a proficiency level.
  • Requesting Feedback: If your organization enables employee-initiated requests, you can ask peers for feedback directly from your skill profile.

Using Skill Feedback During Manager Validation: Manager Experience

Managers can reference a Learner’s latest Skill Feedback Score as supporting evidence when determining whether to validate or adjust a proficiency level.

  • Context at a Glance: Managers can view the latest score, date provided, and the full feedback report during the validation workflow.
  • Additional Insight: Clicking the Skill Feedback Score shows a breakdown of the assessment page.
  • Gathering More Data: If additional input is needed before validation, Managers can trigger a new feedback request via the existing feedback workflow.
  • Requesting Feedback: Managers can request skill feedback for a direct report directly from the Team Validation page.

Understanding Skill Level Descriptions

Skill level descriptions clarify what proficiency looks like for a specific skill. Because expectations for Intermediate or Expert vary by discipline, these descriptions remove guesswork, providing clear benchmarks for Learners and Managers when self-assessing and validating skills.

Frequently Asked Questions for Employees

Do Skill Feedback Scores Automatically Change My Proficiency Level?

No. Feedback is strictly informational to help guide judgment; it will never automatically alter a proficiency level.

Which Skill Feedback Score Will I See?

You’ll see the score from the most recently completed Skill Feedback assessment for that particular skill. This score is a single snapshot, not an average of historical scores.

Frequently Asked Questions for Managers

Can I Request Skills Feedback for an Employee?

Yes. Managers can request skills feedback for an employee directly from the Team Validation page.

Is Skill Feedback Required Before I Can Validate a Skill?

No. Skill Feedback acts as optional supporting evidence and doesn’t block Managers from validating skills.

Where Do Skill Level Descriptions Come From?

Descriptions are configured by your organization for each skill to align with internal role expectations.
