How do I check when a user last logged in?

Tracking user activity is a crucial aspect of managing any platform or service. Knowing when a user last logged in can help you monitor engagement & troubleshoot issues. Whether you're an admin looking to review usage patterns or a manager trying to assist a user, it's important to know how to access this information quickly and easily.

In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to check when a user last logged into the Bridge system, highlighting the tools and methods available to achieve this. Let’s dive in!

To access this information, you’ll need to use the Advanced Analytics feature within Bridge. However, please note that users must have the Advanced Analytics Analyst role assigned to view this data.

Getting Access

To grant this access, navigate to Admin > Users & Permissions > Manage Users, select the user you wish to update and click “modify role”. Then, simply check the box for the Advanced Analytics Analyst role. This will enable the user to access advanced reporting, including the ability to view login data and other key metrics.

For a more detailed overview, be sure to check out our How-to Guide for the Advanced Analytics Analyst Role. This guide provides a comprehensive look at the full range of features and capabilities available with this role, including leveraging advanced reporting.

Generating the report

To access this information, start by navigating to Analytics > Overview. Next, apply the "Enrollment Date" [1] filter and set it to "is anytime", then reload the report [2]. After the report refreshes, go to the "Number of Learners" [3] widget and click on the displayed number to view the user data.

With your new role as an Advanced Analytics Analyst, you'll notice an additional icon that appears when you hover over any widget. This icon allows you to "Explore", giving you quick access to further insights and detailed data directly from the widget.

Once you're in Advanced Analytics, scroll down to the "Users" section to find the relevant data you need.

Click the dropdown menu, and you'll see a list of options. Select "Logged In", followed by "Date", to filter the data accordingly.

Once you've selected these options, the "Data Results" on the right will update to include the new filter. The "Date" will appear on the far right, but you can easily rearrange or remove columns to customize the view to your preferences.

Next, simply click "Run" in the top right corner to generate the report. Once it’s processed, the results will appear in the "Visualization" section.

The report will now display with the "Logged In" date included. If a user's date appears blank, they have never logged in.

You can then save this view as a new dashboard or schedule the report as usual by clicking the "cog" icon. This will allow you to set up regular updates or save your customized report for future use.
