How Do I Use Advanced Analytics in Bridge?

Bridge Advanced Analytics is a built-in business intelligence tool hosted by Looker that lets you dive deeper into your learning records and build custom reporting views.

Learn how to provision the Advanced Analytics Analyst role and access Advanced Analytics in Bridge to dive deeper into your data.

How Do I Access Advanced Analytics in Bridge?

By default, Advanced Analytics is available in Bridge Analytics to users with the following roles:

  • Account Admin
  • Advanced Analytics Analyst

By provisioning the Advanced Analytics Analyst role, you can grant specific users deep reporting access without giving them full platform administrative privileges.

Tip: To use Advanced Analytics, you will need to add the Advanced Analytics Analyst role to the user you wish to give access to. Learn more about roles and permissions in Bridge.

How to Provision the Advanced Analytics Analyst Role

You can grant specific users access to your data dashboards by updating their account permissions.

  1. Navigate to Manage Users > Modify Roles.
  2. Select the account you want to update.
  3. Check the box for the Advanced Analytics Analyst role.
  4. Select Save Changes.

Tip: Select Become to masquerade as the user and verify that the role has been assigned correctly.

How to Use Advanced Analytics in Bridge

Use the steps below to access Advanced Analytics and familiarize yourself with the key areas for building and managing reports.

Note: Creating new widgets and dashboards doesn’t override your current configurations.

Create a Custom Filtered Report

Users with access to Advanced Analytics can drill into underlying data, apply filters, perform more detailed analysis, and create custom dashboards and widgets.

  1. Go to Analytics and select a page from the menu to load the dashboard.
  2. Hover over the widget you want to analyze and select the vertical three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the tile.
  3. Select Explore from here in the dropdown menu to open the Advanced Analytics reporting environment.
  4. Locate your target field in the left-hand menu in the All Fields Tab and use the “filter by field” on the right-hand side to narrow down your results.
  5. Expand the Filters section and update the fields to adjust the data exposed in your report.
  6. Select Run in the top right-hand corner to populate the updated records.

Modify and Organize Your Data

Unlike standard platform transcript views, Advanced Analytics allows you to completely customize which data rows and columns display in your final output.

  • Remove Columns: To delete unnecessary columns from your active view, select the gear icon in the column header of the Results and select Remove.
  • Reorder Columns: To rearrange your table layout, select and hold the column header, drag it to your preferred position, and drop it.
  • Customize Data Visualizations: Use the icons in the Visualization section to customize how your data is displayed, and click Edit in the top-right corner to make further refinements based on the type of chart you’re using.

Schedule Automatic Data Deliveries

Save your custom report for future access, where you can edit, download, and share it.

  1. In the Row Limit field of the Results section, set the value to 5,000 rows or fewer, as larger data sizes cannot be scheduled.
  2. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of the page, then select Save > As a Look from the dropdown menu to save your filtered layout.
  3. Give your Look a title, choose the folder where you want to save it, and select Save.
  4. Select the Folders icon in the top-right corner of the screen to open your new report inside the corresponding folder.
  5. Select the gear icon, then choose Send to set up a one-time delivery. Alternatively, use Schedule to configure your automated delivery settings, including delivery frequency, data format, and destination.
  6. You can automate data deliveries directly to email addresses, an SFTP server, a webhook, or an Amazon S3 bucket to integrate with your external tools.
  7. Select Send Test to send the report to yourself, then select Save All when you’re done.
