How to Create an API Token in Bridge

Users with main admin permissions (such as Account Admin or IT Admin) can create API tokens directly in Bridge.

Warning: Suite API tokens are tied to the user who creates them. If that user is removed, the token will stop working. We advise using a dedicated non-user Account Admin to avoid disruption.

Create an API Token

  1. Go to Admin > General > Account Settings
  2. Select API
  3. Click Add Token

When creating a token, choose the appropriate type:

  • Legacy Token: Use this token for anything related to the Bridge LMS
  • Suite Token: Use this token for features related to the Performance Management suite

Manage Existing API Tokens

From the same screen, you can:

  • View API token details
  • Edit existing tokens
  • Delete tokens that are no longer required

Permissions and Access

API tokens inherit the same permission level as the user who creates them.

  • Admin users can create tokens with admin-level access.
  • Users with custom roles can only create tokens with the permissions of a standard Bridge learner.

Note: Creating API tokens with learner-level permissions is not recommended due to limited access.

API Rate Limits

API tokens are limited to five API calls per second.

Using API Tokens

Bridge’s open APIs allow admins to interact with selected areas of the platform.
