An Overview of Bridge and OpenSesame Content
With the Bridge & OpenSesame integration, you get access to a catalog of training courses that are easy to load and maintain.
- Simplified Management: Keep track of active courses in Bridge and track automatic retirements. When OpenSesame courses are retired, they’ll automatically become inactive within your Bridge account.
- Centralized Course Access: Manage everything from a single space in OpenSesame’s dashboard.
- Team Compatibility: The Team dashboard provides shared administrative access, allowing multiple team members to manage OpenSesame courses and view reports.
- Enhanced Metadata: Courses are easy for admins to organize and for learners to find, with rich metadata including descriptions, image thumbnails, and expanded categories and tags.
Note: The OpenSesame integration replaces the previous Content Marketplace integration in Bridge.

Sending OpenSesame Courses to Bridge
You can search and curate content in OpenSesame and deliver courses directly to Bridge.
My Lists
OpenSesame Lists are a useful way to collect and organize content. You can create lists from search results or course pages.
Click the My Lists tab at the top of the iFrame to see any lists you created and those created by other admins within your organization.
Within Lists, you can further organize content into Groups, making it easier to manage multiple items such as language, content type, and subject matter.
Click the title of a list to open it. You can select all courses, choose specific groups, or select individual courses to send to Bridge. Only courses with an active licence will be successfully sent.
Once you’ve selected at least one course, click the Deliver Courses button. If you have multiple license types for any of the selected courses, choose which type to use.
You’ll see an overview of the courses you’re delivering and the languages included. Expand the Send to Integration delivery option, ensure Choose Destination is set to Bridge.
Click the Deliver Courses button. If successful, you’ll see a confirmation message, and your selected content will appear in your Bridge library on its next sync.
Tip: Visit the My Courses dashboard in OpenSesame to view the status of your courses.
Content Catalog
Click Catalog at the top of the screen to browse the OpenSesame marketplace.
Use the search bar and filters in the left panel to find relevant recommendations, narrow your results, and sort courses by criteria such as relevance, pricing, published date, and feedback.
Hover over a course thumbnail in the Catalog to add it to a list. You can also select an individual course to view more details. From there, you can deliver it directly to Bridge.
Locating OpenSesame Courses in Bridge
Bridge’s daily retrieval begins at 07:00 UTC (2:00-3:00 AM EST). Once content is synced to Bridge, navigate to Author > Courses.
The following metadata fields are shared via the Bridge & OpenSesame integration, making it easy for learners to find relevant content. You’ll see the following details in your learning library:
- Title
- Description
- Thumbnail image
- Duration
- Categories
- Tags
To expose a course to learners, select the Groups tab, and set the course’s Relevance. Selecting Available in Library will make the course visible to all learners. We recommend testing courses before making them available to learners.
Tip: Want to know more about learner relevance in Bridge? Read our guide.
Managing Content Availability
Bridge syncs with OpenSesame daily, keeping your content fresh and up to date.
Setting a course to Archive in Bridge won't be reflected in OpenSesame, and the course will automatically revert to Active in Bridge during the next sync until updated in OpenSesame.
If you set a course to Archive in OpenSesame, or if it’s retired by the publisher, it will be archived in Bridge and won’t appear in Bridge’s active course search results during the next sync.
When a course is archived, we recommend removing the content affiliations to groups and disabling any expiration and reenrollment rules since no existing enrollments will be deleted.
If a learner is in progress when content is archived, they’ll lose access to it. Completed courses will show in the user’s Completed section.
Tip: Read more about archiving courses in Bridge.
Content is retired in the following cadence, and OpenSesame sends an email notification to admins within 24 hours of the events:
Retiring Soon
- Learners can still enroll in and launch a course that’s set to expire.
- You can still purchase seats (typically for 30 days, sometimes longer).
- Existing license holders can use the course for the duration of the license (minimum of 15 months).
- Courses due to retire will be moved to the Needs Attention tab in the My Courses dashboard in OpenSesame and be assigned a retirement date.
Retired
- Enrolled learners can still launch a course listed as Retired.
- If the course is delivered to Bridge via direct integration, it will be removed when the Active status is set to False.
Archived
- At a minimum, a course is moved to Archived only after the last possible enrollment has passed by 15 months, or by an additional 3 months beyond the expiration date of volume purchases.
- Archived courses are no longer launchable by learners.
- The course will move from the Needs Attention tab to the Archived tab in your OpenSesame dashboard.
Tip: Find out how course retirements work in OpenSesame.
Accessing OpenSesame Reporting and Analytics
In addition to the reporting available in Bridge, reporting appears in your OpenSesame administrator account as soon as learners launch an OpenSesame course. To see these insights, locate Dashboard or Insights from the menu, then select Activity Report.
Note: Bridge anonymizes shared learner names by default. If you want names to appear in your OpenSesame reporting, we advise discussing it with your Bridge users before launching content in OpenSesame. Settings can't be changed after that point.
OpenSesame Integration With Bridge: FAQs
Q: How often does the OpenSesame integration sync to Bridge?
A: The integration sync begins at 07:00UTC (2:00 or 3:00 AM EST) each day.
Q: Some courses I previously set as inactive are appearing as an active migration. Why is this happening?
A: If you've manually inactivated courses in Bridge, but they're still active in the OpenSesame catalog, you'll need to log into OpenSesame and make those courses inactive on the Courses page in the Delivered and/or Needs Attention tabs. Otherwise, the integration will make the courses active again every time the sync happens.
Q: What’s the default completion score to pass an OpenSesame course?
A: Bridge’s default required score to pass a course is 80%. The passing score for OpenSesame courses varies, and some have no exam to score. As the default required scores are built into OpenSesame courses and can’t be changed, we recommend adjusting the default requirement in Bridge.
Q: How often do I have to log into my OpenSesame account?
A: To maximize security, you’ll be required to log back into your OpenSesame account after approximately 24 hours.
Q: How do I add the OpenSesame content integration to my Bridge account?
A: To find out more about OpenSesame’s content offering and add the integration to your account, reach out to Bridge’s account management team.
