Bridge Mobile App Workflow Overview for Learners
1. Open a Checkpoint
Learners can reach the Checkpoint Detail page from three places, depending on enrollment status:
- Enrolled checkpoints: Tap the checkpoint on My Learning or on the home screen.
- Unenrolled checkpoints: Search or browse the Learning Library, then tap the checkpoint (library must be enabled for your account).
- Related Journeys: From a checkpoint, tap Open Related Journeys to view associated Journeys.
Page Header Details: Displays cover image, title, description, status, due date, type, and requirement labels (i.e., Requires evidence, Requires approval, or Needs to retry).
Offline Note: The page requires an internet connection to open for the first time. If offline, a full-screen error appears. A checkpoint opened online remains readable offline, but interactive actions are turned off.
2. Enroll in a Checkpoint
On a checkpoint you're not enrolled in, instructions, evidence, approval options, and history stay hidden. Unenrolled learners can perform three actions:
| Action | Location | Method | Condition / Notes |
| Enroll | Button at bottom of page | Tap Enroll. The page refreshes to show enrolled actions. | Opened from the Learning Library (requires internet connection). |
| Report an Issue | ⋯ menu (top right) | Tap ⋯ → Report an Issue and describe the problem. | Available any time the checkpoint is visible. |
| Share | ⋯ menu (top right) | Tap ⋯ → Share to send the registration link. | Available when a registration link exists (works offline). |
3. Review Checkpoint Instructions
Once enrolled in a checkpoint, the Instructions Widget provides approver guidance and attached materials:
- How to use: Tap the widget or the Show button to open full instructions, then tap any attached material to open it.
- Availability: Available when the checkpoint includes instructions. You can open instructions even while an approval request or completion is processing.
- Offline behavior: The widget is not available when using the mobile app offline.
4. Upload and Manage Evidence
If a checkpoint requires evidence, the Evidence Widget appears on the Checkpoint Detail page.
To add evidence, tap + Add Evidence in the Evidence widget and choose one of three options:
- Take Photo or Record Video: Opens the native device camera.
- Photo Library: Select multiple photos or videos at once.
- Choose File: Attach any file from the device storage.
Evidence Upload Tracking and Controls
- Status Counts: The widget header tracks items by status (e.g., Submitted: 3, Pending: 2, Uploading: 5).
- Stopping Uploads: Tap the stop button on an item while it's uploading to cancel. Leaving the page during an upload prompts a confirmation dialog, and leaving cancels in-progress uploads.
- Handling Failures: If uploads fail, a prompt appears: "Some of your evidence couldn't be uploaded. Would you like to try again?" Tap Retry or Cancel.
- View, Play & Share: Photos open in the app's native viewer, and videos play inline with a thumbnail preview. Tap Share to send or download files after submitting for approval or marking complete.
- Remove Evidence: Tap Remove on pending evidence or after an approver requests a retry. Confirming is required to remove previously submitted evidence.
Evidence Constraints
| Constraint | Details |
| Visibility | Evidence appears only when enrolled and evidence is required. |
| Max File Size | 1 GB per file. |
| Video Thumbnails | Automatically captured three seconds into the video. |
| Unsupported File Types | .action, .application, .asp, .aspx, .bat, .bin, .com, .conf, .db, .dmg, .eml, .exe, .htm, .html, .ica, .ini, .jsp, .kdbx, .lnk, .manifest, .mhtml, .msg, .msi, .nupkg, .olk15message, .pbk, .php, .properties, .pst, .rdp, .realm, .reg, .smil, .url, .vbs, .webloc |
| Connection | Uploading, opening, and sharing evidence are disabled offline. |
| Locked States | Evidence cannot be added while approval is pending or once the checkpoint is complete. |
5. Request Approval or Mark Complete
If approval is required:
- Tap Request Approval at the bottom of the page (requires at least one uploaded pending evidence item if evidence is required).
- Optionally, write a message to your approver (canceling after typing prompts confirmation before discarding).
- Tap Send.
Note: Once submitted, the button changes to a disabled Approval Requested state. While a checkpoint is pending, you can't upload/remove evidence or remove enrollment.
If no approval is required:
- Tap Mark Complete at the bottom of the page.
- A progress indicator shows while processing.
- Upon completion, the status will update in My Learning and the home screen, and if configured, a View Certificate button appears.
6. Review Approver Feedback (If Approval Is Required)
Feedback appears in a highlighted feedback bubble on the detail page as soon as the approver reviews the submission:
- Approved: Checkpoint updates to Completed, and you don’t need to do anything else.
- Try Again: Checkpoint is labeled Needs to retry. Remove old evidence, upload new proof, and request approval again.
7. View Additional Actions & History
| Feature | Location | How It Works | Notes / Conditions |
| Remove Enrollment | ⋯ menu (top right) | Tap Remove to drop self-registered checkpoints. | Available for non-required, self-registered checkpoints. Disabled offline or during active requests. |
| View/Share Certificate | Bottom of the screen | Tap View Certificate to share or download. | Appears once the checkpoint is complete and has an available certificate. |
| Checkpoint History | History Widget | Tap Show on the Checkpoint History widget to view approval requests, decisions, messages, and approver changes. | Available when enrolled and checkpoint requires approval. |
